Job description

CIDETEC needs to recruit different researchers to work in Coatings and Surface Treatments Unit.

Different researchers are required in Coatings and Surface Treatments Unit and in particular in:

  • Chemical and electrochemical analyses
  • Design and integration of sensors/equipment for continuous monitoring of chemical processes
  • Electrodeposition of metallic coatings
  • Surface treatments and coatings on light alloys
  • Tribology and tribocorrosion
  • Ceramic coatings for extreme environments

Responsibilities:

The researchers will join the Coatings and Surface Treatments Unit, working in training and/or transfer to company projects. They must undertake the work in such a way that they are able to carry out several lines of research simultaneously, optimising resources and maximising results.

The researchers will work independently in accordance with the defined work plan.

They will also be involved in:

  • Management and implementation of R&D projects, both regarding basic research and industrial transfer.
  • Proposals writing for different regional, national and European calls
  • Analysis of results, drafting of technical reports and presentations
  • Manage the relationship with clients and partners in collaborative projects.
  • Continuous monitoring of the SOA/Market.

Requirements

Education:

PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

Languages:

High level of written and spoken English.

Knowledge:

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

1. Solid knowledge in one or more of the following fields:

  • Analytical or electroanalytical chemistry
  • Design and integration of sensors/equipment for continuous monitoring of chemical processes
  • Electrodeposition of metallic coatings
  • Surface treatments and coatings on light alloys
  • Tribology and tribocorrosion
  • Ceramic coatings

2. Knowledge in coatings characterization techniques (XPS, XRD, FESEM, corrosion properties, mechanical properties etc).

3. Knowledge in analytical techniques (ICP, UV-Vis, IC, FTIR, DSC, TGA, etc).

4. Broad experience in the following aspects:

  • Collecting, analysing and reporting scientific data leading to valid conclusions and keep abreast of cutting-edge methodology in the areas of coatings and surface treatments.
  • Consortium building and proposal writing for Horizon Europe and other funding programmes.
  • Project management: work planning, monitoring, reporting, etc. Coordinating internal resources and ensuring that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Managing the relationship with the clients and collaborative projects partners.

Additionally, the following will be positively evaluated:

  • Work experience both in academic and industrial environment
  • Work experience in different countries
  • Other foreign languages skills
