Job description

CIDETEC Energy Storage is looking for someone to join its Battery Testing Unit, where the batteries of the future are tested for a wide range of applications, from automotive to aerospace.

Our work covers the entire value chain, from battery chemistry to the final application. We design, develop and validate cells, modules and batteries tailored to our customers’ needs, with a clear focus on technology transfer to industry.

 

Your contribution

You will join one of the battery testing laboratories with the greatest capabilities in Europe during a period of significant growth. You will work with globally recognised customers within a team supervised by the Laboratory Technical Manager.

Your work will be focused on testing lithium-ion cells, including:

  • Commissioning testing equipment, assembling test components (e.g. jigs, sensors), electrical wiring and integration of instrumentation elements.
  • Drafting and strict monitoring of testing procedures and proposals for improving evaluation and testing methods.
  • Execution of battery tests for each project under strict safety and quality protocols (ISO 17025) using state-of-the-art testing equipment.
  • Programming of test profiles, test automation, data processing, and advanced interpretation of results.
    Design and optimization of vibration fixtures using FEM (Finite Element Method).
    Definition and dimensioning of laser-welded joints. Execution of high-performance welds in compliance with customer requirements.P
  • Performance and interpretation of NDT and DT tests on welded joints.
  • Preparation of technical reports and documentation, with the ability to present results to customers.
  • Interaction and technical discussions with suppliers, as well as collaboration with other areas of the organization, including R&D, Purchasing, and Facilities teams.
  • In-depth interpretation and analysis of results.
  • Maintenance of equipment and the work area in optimal condition.

Requirements

Education:

Industrial, Mechanical Engineering degree, or a similar discipline.

Languages:

Fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish. 

Knowledge:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound knowledge in:

  • Knowledge of dynamic analysis methodologies (e.g., FFT, spectral analysis) and mechanical analysis tools (CAD, FEM).
  • Materials science knowledge.
  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant environment (e.g., vibration testing, dynamic analysis, FEM simulation, etc.).
  • Experience in test programming, standards, procedures, and report preparation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP/CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Strong discipline, high attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership and commitment.

Experience:

Experience working in a laboratory environment, testing centre, automotive sector, or energy storage systems.

Observations:

We are seeking a highly motivated person with an interest in research and innovation, to join a multi-disciplinary team. They must be able to organise their work and meet deadlines and targets.

Having undertaken a placement abroad and more than 3 years’ work experience will be considered a plus.
