Job description

CIDETEC is looking to recruit a Researcher in the Energy Storage area.

The post will cover the needs of strategic projects and it is aligned with the current activity of post-mortem and modelling line of the Energy Materials unit.

Our work covers the entire value chain, from battery chemistry to the final application. We design and develop cells, modules and battery packs tailored to our customers’ needs, with a clear focus on technology transfer to industry. The researcher’s work will be related in the development and implementation of multi-physics models for lithium ion and lithium metal batteries.

Yo will join the Storage Systems Unit, working on knowledge generation and industrial projects. They must be capable of carrying out several lines of research simultaneously, optimising resources and maximising results.

 

You will join a team led by a line manager, working independently according to a defined work plan involving both technical and managerial activities.

Your work will focus on the following activities:

  • Assembly of button cells in controlled glove chamber.
  • Pouch/cylindrical cell opening and rigid housing in controlled glove chamber.
  • Physical-chemical characterisation of cell materials and components (TGA, FE-SEM, XRD, Raman, NMR).
  • Electrochemical characterisation of electrodes and cells (GITT, PITT,EIS, CV).
  • Project management.
  • Drafting of project proposals.

Requirements

Education:

PhD in the field of Advanced Materials for Energy

Languages:

Fluent in spoken and written English. 

Knowledge:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound knowledge in:

  • R&D in battery systems.
  • Characterization techniques, XRD, Raman, FTIR, TGA, SEM(-EDS), TEM, XPS, gas sorption (BET & BJH), CV, EIS.
  • Electrochemical characterization of batteries post-mortem analysis.
  • Inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry and advanced materials.

Observations:

A highly motivated person, with a keen interest in research and innovation, you will join a multidisciplinary team. You will be able to organise your work, meeting both the deadlines and the established objectives. Problem-solving capacity and scientific criteria. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Having undertaken a placement abroad and more than 3 years’ work experience will be considered a plus.
