Job description

CIDETEC Energy Storage is looking to recruit a researcher for its Materials for Energy Unit. He or she will reinforce the solid state batteries research line, more specifically in the area of organic, polymer based solid electrolyte lithium batteries.

 

Responsibilities

The researcher will develop his/her activity either in publicly funded research projects and/or projects with companies, optimising the resources and maximising the results.

The successful candidate will work independently according to the defined work plan.

He or she will participate in the following activities:

  • Synthesis of organic-inorganic solid electrolyte materials.
  • Preparation solid electrolytes films and electrodes.
  • Participation in solid state battery R&D (optimization, failure analysis, post mortem analysis etc.).
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Project management and management of laboratory staff.
  • Writing project proposals, technical reports, patent applications, conference abstracts and scientific manuscripts. 
  • Participate in technology transfer and scale-up of the developed materials and technologies.
  • Perform literature and patent search to identify new materials, technologies and processes.

Requirements

Education

PhD in Inorganic Chemistry, Material Science or Electrochemistry,

Languages

English

Knowledge and experience:

  • 3+ years experience in the lithium battery R&D environment (SSB, Li-ion, Li-metal etc.).
  • Synthesis, preparation and characterisation of composite solid electrolytes.
  • Hands-on experience on solid electrolyte processing by either wet methods, hot pressing, solvent free (extrusion etc.) and other relevant methods.
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience on coin and pouch solid state cells assembly, manipulation and comprehensive testing.
  • Knowledge of main electrochemical (EIS, CV, galvanostatic cycling etc.) and physical-chemical characterization methods (FE-SEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS etc.).
  • Knowledge on polymer and organic chemistry.
